Photographic paper is paper coated with light-sensitive chemicals, used for making photographic prints. (Photographic paper is not to be confused with so-called photo papers: specially coated papers for use in inkjet or laser printers to make digital prints.) Photographic paper may be exposed to light in a controlled manner either by placing a negative in contact with the paper directly (contact printing) or by using an enlarger (enlarging) in order to create a latent image. It may also be used directly to produce a negative image in some types of cameras, including pinhole cameras. Photographic papers are subsequently developed using wet chemicals to create a visible image.
